The downstairs room has a wide range of equipment provided for both indoor and outdoor play to encourage the development of a wide variety of skills.
A key worker will be allocated to your child to offer encouragement and to support your child and ensure that records of development are kept and the individual needs of both you and your child are catered for. Your child will be provided with their own Learning Journey File, in this information and observations will be recorded, this is available for you to peruse at any time. You are encouraged to contribute to the file, observations by parents/carers are very welcome!
Your child’s day will be carefully planned with plenty of time for free play and choice. All activities are planned and prepared appropriate to each age group and individual need.
Your child’s education and activities
All activities, daily routines and the health and safety of your child is carried out in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a framework which take into account the 7 areas of learning and development, see Parents’ Guide to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
We encourage parents to use our information/notice boards to keep updated on nursery life. We welcome suggestions from parents as to how our service may be improved and tailored to meet their needs.
We are happy to follow any toilet routines you have already established, it is important that both nursery and parents are using the same procedure.
The nursery staff are happy to discuss any aspect of your child’s development and routine. Please advise us of any needs you would like to be met, any comforters or requirements which will help your child to feel happy, confident and secure during his/her time in the downstairs room.
The staff ratio in this room is:
1 member of staff to 4, 2 yrs. olds
1 member of staff to 8, 3-5 yrs. olds
